The Unwelcome Proposal
Today brought an unexpected proposition from my mother-in-law: she offered us $500 to change the name of our daughter, due in July. Displeased with our chosen name, she insisted the money would facilitate a compromise on a name agreeable to all parties.

Refusing to entertain her meddling, I firmly rejected the offer, reminding her that the choice of name for our child is solely ours to make. Despite her insistence, I made it clear that her opinion held no sway in this deeply personal decision.
